More than 10 academicians and experts provide insights and guidance for synthetic biology!
On December 20th, the Hangzhou International Science and Technology Innovation Center of Zhejiang University held an expert consultation meeting on the construction of a synthetic biomanufacturing center in the Information Harbor Park.
More than 10 academicians and experts, including Academician Deng Zixin, Academician Tan Tianwei, Academician Tan Weihong, Academician Yuan Yingjin, Academician Tang Chao, Academician Huang He, Academician Fan Chunhai, and Academician Zeng Anping, gathered together to provide professional consultation and guidance for the construction and development of the Synthetic Biotechnology Manufacturing Center.
Academicians and experts jointly discussed the development plan of synthetic biology manufacturing Ouyang Qi, an academician of the CAS Member and chief scientist in the field of science and innovation center, made a keynote speech, pointing out that China's synthetic biology manufacturing faces problems such as difficulties in basic scientific research to support industrialization needs, difficulties in process amplification, long product landing cycle, and high costs.
The Synthetic Biotechnology Manufacturing Center will focus on six research directions: modular and intelligent design of life systems, AI algorithms for biological and molecular intelligent manufacturing, efficient research and development and intelligent manufacturing of enzyme proteins and related preparations, intelligent manufacturing of functional materials and molecules, automated cell casting, and automated intelligent chemical synthesis screening and application.
This will drive the deep integration of innovation chain and industry chain, link industries, break through bottlenecks, accelerate transformation, and explore feasible strategies for new quality productivity in the field of synthetic biotechnology.
Vice President Chen Gang: Synthetic biology is the golden track for new quality productivity. Chen Gang, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Zhejiang University, stated at the meeting that synthetic biology has become a crucial field for global research and industrial upgrading.
He emphasized that under the leadership of Academician Ouyang Qi, the Life Design and Synthesis Research Institute of the Science and Technology Innovation Center integrates resources and leverages the synergistic effect of biological intelligent manufacturing and life design.
He hopes that the Science and Technology Innovation Center can seriously absorb expert opinions, optimize the construction plan of the manufacturing center, and jointly build a leading new benchmark for synthetic biology in China.
Jiang Yongzhu, District Mayor: Xiaoshan District will fully support the development of synthetic biomanufacturing industry.
Jiang Yongzhu, Deputy Secretary of Xiaoshan District Committee and District Mayor, stated that Xiaoshan District attaches great importance to the development of synthetic biomanufacturing industry and will leverage its advantages in application scenarios, industrial funds, industrial policies, etc. to promote the linkage between industry, academia, research and capital.
He proposed that Xiaoshan District will jointly build industry highlands, seize fund support highlands, create project growth highlands, and work together with high-level innovation platforms such as science and technology innovation centers to create an internationally renowned innovation hub for synthetic biology.
